Dutch Delft Ceramics

Final Project Semester 2

PLAN

these are just a couple of inspiration photos that I used for my project, I didn't take everything directly from these photos but I did take the flower on the plate, the rest of it was pretty much my ideas and pulled from other inspiration photos I found on Pinterest. the little bowls on the far left are some bowls I found in a store called dille and kamille in the Netherlands and I thought they were perfect for my final!

Attempt 1

so i really wanted to start my final ahead of time, so I started this is janurary, I didn't have any specific piece that I wanted to make so just started to make my platter by rolling out a slab then I wanted to do a sort of wavey look so I created some waves on the edge of the platter, I then let it bonedry and painted it white, then used the royal blue underglaze to make s sort of flowery design in the middle, I think I found the inspiration for that off of interest, I then also on Pinterest found some windmills on dutch pottery, and painted that on, aswell as some tulips on the side. but then I thought I should do more... so I drew some flowery designs above the center, but then came to regret them so I attempted to scrap it off.. i then tried to paint over the scrapped off bits with white underglaze but then bits of the blue miexd with the white to form some grey and it messed up the whole piece. i still fired it but I gave it as my donation piece.

Attempt 2

so for this one i decided that I wanted to go with a more traditional shape aswell as using a mold so I have a refined shape, I began by wedging my clay and rolling a slab, and then molding it over the mold. i then let it bonedry then painted it white with underglaze, and did flowery designs with royal blue. i then fired it and clear glazed it. i think that the piece turned out pretty well, I like it and I think it definitely does fit my theme of dutch ceramics. and I think I'm going to give it to my mom who lives in the Netherlands!
