Vincent van Gogh was a post-impressionism painter, born in the Netherlands in 1853. At the age of 27, he decided he wanted to be an artist, he first started out sketching scenes and was influenced by artists such as money. Although his parents were not very happy with his decision to pursue this career he continued on, he moved back in with his parents and started sketching and painting farmers. shortly after the death of his father he started making the famous painting the potato eaters and later that year he enrolled in the academy of art in antwerp.  then in 1889 he was hospitalized in the mental hospital, although he was mentally unstable he was very productive. This is where he painted Starry Night about a year after his hospitalization he passed away.

Construction

I knew I wanted to do a Van Gogh piece as I'm Dutch, I looked through his paintings and decided on his painting "Sunflowers" The most difficult part in my construction was keeping the round shape and trying to have a larger bottom half than the top half. i originally wanted to have the vase be more round/wide but I did not know how to achieve that so I settled

Reflection

I do not dislike my final piece but I feel like It could've looked better if I started when it was assigned. Some things I wish I could've changed/added are making the vase rounder towards the base, as well as a smaller neck at the top, and a closer portrayal of his 15 sunflowers as he was representing them in different stages in their life.  I did attempt to take my own attempt at his painting as I added the sunflowers on the outside of the vase and adding my name on the vase like he did.
